This rare, vintage postal sorting unit hails from the early 20th century, predecessor to the P.O. Box systems of later years. Consists of 99 wooden slots with 94 slotting tin drawers, most with pewter acorn pulls. Each drawer is 9.75" long, 4" wide and 4"deep, open in the back to accept mail delivery. Unpainted, the tin drawer fronts make an intriguing design mosaic. The frame is ponderosa pine with dovetailed joinery, original white paint shows the wear of use and age. Ideal storage unit for a large assortment of smaller objects.
