Item Description
Magnificent large hand painted tray depicting a party of six and their driver pulled by their team of four horses, on an outing in their London Road Coach. The writing on the side of the coach reads London 182_ and Bull & Bush Hampstead. The painter uses meticulous detail to depict the elegant attire of the two ladies and five gentlemen and their facial expressions as they engage in animated conversation. It is evident that they are running at a fast clip by the crack of the whip, the posture of the horses and the clouds of dust blowing up on the dirt highway. The lush English countryside fills the background. The border of this deep tray is black with gold painted leaf accents.
