Rendered in an unfettered freeform style, this spectacular art carpet is a definitive representation of the evolution of the carpet from a utilitarian item to a high-art form. Lenticular stripes and cubist shapes add motion, depth and illusion to the two-dimensional surface while exemplifying the tremendous combination of design, planning and weaving skills necessary to create a piece with so many levels of detail. Pure white accents paired with a chic combination of Kohl black, gray, blue, rosebud pink, coral red and scarlet emphasize the richly textural stripes, freeform people and abstract shapes that embellish the flat-woven surface.
