Antique Malayer Rug, Size 11.1 x 13.8 for sale
Item ID: 391356
Item Description
This carpet was hand-knotted in the northwest region of Persia around 1920. This weaving area is known for producing a finer and more densely knotted construction than rugs from surrounding regions. The indigo field is a rich backdrop to the beautifully executed "Herati" design. "Herati" refers to a design that repeats itself. Consisting of a flower centered in a diamond motif with curving lanceolate leaves located outside of the diamond, parallel to each side. Because the lanceolate leaves sometimes have the appearance of fish it is often referred to as the "fish" design. Condition on this remarkable piece is very good.
