1950s Studio BBPR Small Desk / Etargere for Olivetti for sale
Item ID: 371605
Item Description
A vintage, mid-century modern, 50s desk for Olivetti by the Italian design office, BBPR. The desk measures 26.5 x 44.5 x 16.5 inches. It is made of sheet metal, plastic and molded wood.
Originally meant to be a typewriter table; of course, it is the perfect computer table or could be used as a stylish 50s side table, a small desk or as an unusual modern étagère or bar. The desk has some light patina to metal and one drawer has a chip at the front and there are some very fine surface scratches in the upper left side of desk surface (see close up photos).
Founded in 1932, Studio BBPR, formed by the initials of four Italian architects-designers- Gian Luigi Banfi, Ludovico Belgioso, Enrico Peressuti and Ernesto Nathan Rogers, was a very important post office for architecture and design. Some of their most important comissions for furnitures and interiors include; United Nations' Pavilion for Milan's Triennial in 1954, building of Valesco Tower in 1956 and the interior decoration for Olivetti in New York in 1954.
