Item Description
A vintage Italian design wood and rattan dining / side chair. The curvature of the back, finely carved wood elements, woven seat and ultimately, the light weight of the chair are inspired by the famous Chiavari chair; also, also a source of inspiration for Gio Ponti's cassina produced "Super Leggera" design. The design is actually more ergonomic and hence, more comfortable as the rounded back provides support for the back. Like the "Super Leggera", this chair is super light weight at 2.1 Kg (4.6 lbs); even a child can lift it.
The chair has a very small flat chip at one back support (see close up photos), otherwise, it is in very good condition. This design is a great complement and interesting contrast to contemporary designs or mid-century modern designs, i.e. a Saarinen / Knoll table. Measurements are: total height: 30.25 inches, total width: 16 inches and seat heigh: 17.25 inches.
