A French, Mid-century modern design chair by Pierre Chapo, circa 1960s. The chair is made of massive carved wood with tan leather seating. The overall height is 30 inches with a seat height of 17.5 inches. It is in very good condition.
Pierre Chapo graduated with a degree in architecture from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris in 1958. In the 60's, he established the Society Chapo, based in Gordes, France. He is known for his pure designs created in his first love, wood. Ever the humble creator, he considered himself to be foremost a carpenter.
