Item ID: 393506
Item Description
These Marcel and Suzanne upholstered lounge chairs by Kazuhid Takahama (1930-) were made in Italy by Gavina S.p.a. in the 1960s. On the left is a Marcel chair (with its original Gavina label), named in tribute to Marcel Duchamp, which was first produced by Gavina in 1965 and later made in America by Knoll up until 1975. It measures 32.5" wide, 23" tall, 34.2" deep and has a seat height of 14". It features a polished aluminum frame with rail style feet. On the right is a Suzanne chair, also produced by Gavina beginning in 1965. It measures 29.5" wide, 25.5" tall, 34" deep and has a seat height of 14.5". It features rail style feet in chrome finished steel. Each is in excellent condition, with only a few very light stains and one tiny tear. Matching violet knit upholstery is not original. Today the Santa & Cole firm of Barcelona Spain produces the Marcel line, and Knoll produces the Suzanne line of seating.
