Czech Modernism / Art Deco Chair by Jindrich Halabala for sale
Item ID: 385571
Item Description
A 1930s bent chrome chair by the Czech designer, Jindrich Halabala. The chair's cantilever design shows the influence of the Marcel Breuer / Mart Stam on Eastern European design. This design is quite interesting as it shows a whimsical approach to bent metal design with the large inverted "C" curve at the base. The chair is in very good condition and the Eisengarn fabric is replaced. Measurements are: seat height (18.75 inches), total height (33 inches), total width (20.25 inches) and depth (27 inches).
Jindrich Halabala is one of the fathers of the Czechoslovakian industrial, mass produced design and home furnishings movement. He was quite a phenomenon as he not only was a prolific designer of beautiful and comfortable furniture but he also perfectly understood and executed the avant garde marketing ideals in selling furniture.
