Pair of Original 1930's Bauhaus Era Anton Lorenz Bent Metal Lounge Chairs for sale
Item ID: 396629
Item Description
A pair of original, Bauhaus era, 1930's bent metal armchairs / lounge chairs designed by Anton Lorenz and produced by the Italian furniture production company, Columbus (Milan), in cooperation with Thonet. The design of the chair incorporates the revolutionary principle of late 20's avant-garde tubular furniture design, the cantilever. Also, it conveys the optical impression that it is constructed from one piece of bent tubular steel which was one of the main goals of the Bauhaus design movement. The chairs are upholstered in a red and green plaid wool which is a warm contrast to the sleekness of the metal. They are 33 inches tall, 24.5 inches wide and have a seat height of 17.5 inches.
