Modern Style Clear Glass Mirror with Deep Blue Mirrored Border for sale
Item ID: 372503
Item Description
The styling on this fantastic vintage mirror is purely Art Deco reminiscent of the 1930's. In impeccable condition, it is designed in a unmistakably and special quality! The center panel of clear beveled mirror sits 3-dimensionally in front of the blue beveled mirror trim underneath, which also acts as a border or frame. All of the mirrored glass is beveled with radius-rounded corners everywhere giving it that added subtle sophistication as well as extra special pizazz . A superbly clean and dramatic accent piece from a more glamorous time gone by; we could see Jean Harlow having used it above her boudoir vanity. It would also look great being hung above a mirrored chest or console in foyer, hallway, living room, bedroom, powder room or bath. It has heavy duty cleats attached on the back to allow for either vertical or horizontal hanging. The particularly exquisite tone of the blue glass trim is undeniably authentic and not capable of being replicated in quite the same depth of color by anyone except the maker (see below). A very special piece for that very special place.
Further Description, Attributed to Cristal Lupi Luxor (Antonio Lupi):
Vintage beveled Italian rectangular glass mirror with radiused corners attributed to Cristal Lupi Luxor founded by Antonio Lupi.
The main glass plate is mounted on a second, deep blue glass frame and both the mirror and
surround are in wonderful original condition, which adds to the authenticity of the piece.
There is a deep bevel to both the main plate and the glass frame, and in different lights this shows the blue glass in varied shades which beautifully illuminates the edge of the main mirror glass especially when the lights are on. A heavy piece of great quality, which would work very well in a contemporary bathroom, bedroom, foyer, etc.
A little history on the maker:
The late Antonio Lupi’s career started in the 1950s and the company is still thriving today. His original business involved working sheets of glass for furnishings in the industrial area of the Val D’Arno.
Glass accessories became a huge success and realising he had started an important trend he immediately changed his direction in production towards artistic mirrors, lamps, sconces and shelves. High level production imposed Lupi on the market and the current establishment emerged in 1969.
