Antique Alhambra Bronze Vase Attributed to Tiffany & Co. for sale
Item ID: 373250
Item Description
This Alhambra style bronze vase dates from the first quarter of the 20th century, likely circa 1910-1915, and is believed to come from Tiffany & Co. It has a baluster form, with ovoid body tapering to a narrow splayed foot, with shoulders featuring applied faceted handles and flaring neck. An exceptional and large example of Hispano-Moresque ware, it features elaborate Arabic script and figurative animal motifs, in the style of the finest Moorish pottery of the fourteenth century. The form derives from the style of pottery created at Alhambra, the palace and fortress in Granada, Andalusia, Spain, constructed in the mid 14th century by the Arab rulers of the Emirate of Granada in al-Andalus. This is the largest and finest example of Alhambra style bronzeware we've seen come to market in over a decade.
