Chrome & Lucite Floor Lamp & Table Lamps Attributed To Pierre Cardin for sale
Item ID: 403306
Item Description
Included here are a matching pair of mid-century modern table lamps and matching floor lamp, circa 1970, attributed to the lighting company of George Kovacs (1927-1980). Floor lamp measures 60.25" by 20" by 9". Each table lamp measures 23.5" by 16" by 10". They are crafted primarily from acrylic (lucite) and aluminum or chromium plated metal. Each is in fine working order. There are no hallmarks. Condition of each is good. There are light dents, scratches and light pitting, consistent with age.
Himself an important lighting designer, Kovac's firm produced the designs of many influential lighting designers of the the mid-to-late twentieth century, including Ingo Maurer, Robert Sonneman, Neal Small, Harry Allen, Karim Rashid, and Alecia Wesner. These designs were mis-attributed to Pierre Cardin in the past decade, and each lamp also resembles the Mailbox Lamp designed in 1963 by Charles Hollis Jones, one of the leading designers of the 1960s who also worked in chrome and lucite.
