Item Description
A Swiss Bauhaus era adjustable floor lamp. The height adjusts from 45 to 68 inches. The lamp is brass. When the lamp is extended to its full heght , it gives a great room light and has a sculptural appeal. The shade joint allows to that shade's angle to be adjusted. It is in good condition with some small dings at base and it does function.
The lamp was produced by Swiss lighting company, Belmag was by the famous Swiss Bauhaus architect, Sigfried Gideon. Sigfried Gideon, renowned Swiss architect and author, worked closely with the Bauhaus. He was the founder of the store that introduced Bauhaus design to Switzerland, Wohnbedarf. He was also a professor in the architecture department at the ETH in Zürich and Harvard University.
