Item Description
A vintage Swiss army backpack. The firm sided backpack measures 14.75 x 14.5 x 5 inches. The interior is lined with linen cotton and the exterior is a long haired cow hide with leather straps & trims. This is quite a nice example of an army backpack as we are priviliged to informatin hidden in a secret flap. The army shooting range book of the original owner that he began his career in the army in 1946 and completed his tenure in 1968. His backpack was created earlier and stamped with the date stamp 1941 underneath the carrying straps.
The book will be included. Also, included are two leather pouches that the soldier wore on his belt which can also be used like a fanny pack today. The backpack has patina to leather trim yet is still in good condition.
The back is commonly known as the "Affa" (Monkey) and there are several folkloric explainations, i.e. the way a baby monkey clings to its mother's back. This is the perfect back pack that is durable and stylish.
