Item ID: 379754
Item Description
A rare find in near mint condition, this classroom "Maps of the World" set is in its original oak wood case. Nine colorfully vibrant, school geography maps on retractable pull-down wooden rollers. These maps encompass the continents of the world beginning with a global overview and including individual maps of Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, South America, North America, United States and Possessions and Wisconsin, where this set was housed in a small north woods schoolhouse. A fascinating depiction of the world a few years before it exploded into WWII. To think of those small town, American kids, many of whom would find themselves at war over that same geography of the expanding German and Japanese Empires they studied in school in 1936. Near-mint conditionn with very minor age wear.
Materials/Techniques: wood rollers and case, litho-printed, industrial-strength paper with synthetic canvas backing.
