A very unusual art deco / modernist period folding storage box. The design actually bridges principles of Bauhaus & classic art deco design with its practical, straight forward approach to resolving a common storage problem. The box measures 10.8 x 11.9 x 6.5 inches and 39 inches when opened. It provides generous space for office supplies, art or sewing utinsels; it was probably originally designed to hold sewing accesories. And It is not often that one can use the word "fabulous" in describing a sewing or utility box.
Its a great example of clever design and is impressive in the attention to design detail from the shape of the handle, the knobs and the dramatic form when open. Certainly an item that is serious design and yet puts a smile on your face. The general condition is good with a small chip to the handle, a veneer flat chip at one box and patina to original, brilliant paint color.
