Item Description
An EARLY 20TH CENTURY QING DYNASTY CHINESE CLOISONNE` ENAMEL CASKET.
*CLOISONNE* is an ancient technique for decorating metal work.
In recent centuries (such as this piece) they use Enamel to decorate the casket. The enamel is made from fusing powdered glass to a substrate by firing heat up to 1560 degrees Fahrenheit.
It has two decorated brass hinges supporting the casket when opening and closing.
