Vintage Orrefors Glass Vase with Vicke Lindstrand Style Engraving for sale
Item ID: 372082
Item Description
A very interesting, early Orrefors studio glass vase with a "Spring" theme. The thick walled vase is decorated with vines and leaves and is 7.25 inches tall and 5.6 inches in diameter. It is signed underneath in lower case script, "orrefors" and it has its original old silver & red label.
The use of thick walled glass began circa 1928 which coincided with beginning of Vicke Lindstrand's career at the company. It was Lindstrand who introduced this "modern" look to the atelier. He mastered the technique of engraving the thick walled pieces to create a depth and definition that look as if his engravings were floating in the glass.
This piece is an early piece and could be as early as 1940s/50s as the label is an older version of the Orrefors label. The vase has a sliver of a chip at the outer rim (see close up photo), otherwise, it is in good condition.
