Item Description
A vintage blue mold, cast glass designed by Hans Arp. It was executed by the Murano artist, Egidio Costantini for Arp. The piece is 6.1 inches in diameter and signed in the mold, "Arp" and on the back by Costantini and dated, 1964. The sculpture is in excellent condition and is actually, Arp's design for the gallery started by Costantini, "Forge of the Angels" (see below).
About Egidio Costantini:
The Murano glass artist, Constani, founded his center for studies of painters and the art of glass in the 1950s. Later in 1955, he also founded his own glass art gallery, "Forge of the Angels". During his career he collaboraed with some of the most famous artists of the 20th century, including Jean (Hans) Arp, Oskar Kokoschka. Le Corbusier, Alexander Calder and Pablo Picasso. After some financial troubles, he found patrons in Peggy Guggenheim and Nelson Rockellar; which provided him the means to continue his work.
