All inventory > Folk Art / Americana > Folk Art Signs

Item ID: 386476

Item Description

Painted wood trade sign with charming in-service repaint. Note that the company appears to have acquired a telephone between the two times that the sign was painted. The first use of phone numbers was in 1889-1890. Early numbers had 2 or 3 digits. Painted on a single, wide plank of pine, this sign was probably dates to the late 19th century and was likely repainted during the 1st quarter of the 20th century. Its wine red paint surface is spectacular with wonderful crazing. Condition: Expected wear and losses.
