UNUSUAL CHECKERBOARD WITH CARVED LEAF & VINE DECORATION AND THE INITIAL ?S? ON A CARVED SHIELD, 1870-90 for sale
Item ID: 385094
Item Description
Single plank pine game board with a Spanish brown-painted ground and black checkers, embellished at each end by a shield-shaped, hand-carved medallion that has the initial “S” in the center. Growing outward from this are carved, meandering vines. Small blocks in each corner display the leaves of four different types of ivy. This unusual board would look great in an Adirondack environment. The polychrome paint and surface are original and untouched.
