Zeisel was a titan of industrial design. Her signature biomorphic and organic shapes are synonomous with Mid-Century style and are in permanent collection at the British Museum, Metropolitan Museum of Art and MOMA.
After escaping from the Nazi occupation of Vienna in 1938, Zeisel came to New York where she designed for several companies and taught one of the first courses in industrial design at The Pratt Institute. She holds the distinction of having the first one-woman show at MOMA in 1946. The Cooper-Hewitt National Design Award for Lifetime Achievement was given to her in 2005. She continues to design and gain awards.
