This fabulous bronze sculpture by Louis Marie Moris (1818-1883) depicts a young, deer-hunting nobleman from the era of Francis I (1494-1547), France's first renaissance king.  It measures 20" wide, 23" high and 9" deep. Signed in the cast "Moris", and there is no foundry mark. Patina is a rust-brown.  In the Benezit it reports that Moris (or Morise) was the pupil of Lequien and Pradier, and exhibited at the Paris Salong from 1857 to 1869.
