Item Description
This is a wonderful English, solid oak, military campaign chest of drawers and dates to the late 18th Century. The chest is in two pieces, two drawers in the top half and two larger drawers in the bottom half. This type of construction was typical for larger pieces of campaign furniture to make them easier to transport as the British Army moved from place to place on their campaigns in Africa, India the South Seas, and other places abroad. The chest shows some wear, which really adds to its history and character. If only it could talk! The recessed original brass handles and escutcheons are in very good condition. This is a very handsome piece and a nice example of campaign furniture.
