A lovely English, 18th Century, Oak carved bible or deed box. The deep English Oak has a beautiful patina. The simple but gorgeous carvings on the front give this piece tremendous character. Bible boxes in England were kept in the local churches and often contained birth and death certificates as well as the church bible and candles.
