ate 1800's Hand Blown Pharmacy Show Globe with Cut Glass Stopper from England for sale
Item ID: 378245
Item Description
This is a wonderful, late 1800’s English apothecary show globe with a cut-glass stopper. The globe is hand-blown and is in very good condition. Show globes were displayed in the windows of English apothecary or pharmacy shops. Usually they were filled with colored water and were displayed to indicate the shop was an apothecary. Not only were they used to invite customers, show globes were also used as a communication tool. The color of the water would be changed to, for example, red if there was a virus going around the village. This show globe would be a great accessory and a real talking point
