Item Description
Sculpturally interesting fragment of an industrial mold mounted on a contemporary steel stand.
Mold like this were pressed into sand to form a negative shape. Molten steel was poured into it and, when cooled, formed a replica casting in metal.
This mold, although only a fragment of a larger mold, is strikingly sculptural and has a fine surface that indicates age and use.
