A Landmark poster in jazz music poster design.
This vintage 1978 Willisau Switzerland Jazz Festival poster is a fantastic example of Swiss graphic design. The designer, Niklaus Troxler, perfects includes all of the elements needed to communicate the jazz mood using the artistic language that was popular in the 1970s. The pop art element of the American flag flowing into the piano keys is a stroke of genius. The eye popping color cuntrast of lilac, golden yellow and black guaranteed captured passersby attention and perfectly captures the avant garde playing style of Don Pullen. The poster meausres 23.2 x 16.5 inches. There are pin holes at corners, a tear at upper left and lower right & light crease from storage
The techinque used is polychrome silk screen on paper. An example of this poster is in the Museum of Modern Art (NY).
