Photographer of the stars, Willy Rizzo, was born in Naples in 1928. His photojournalist career began at a very young age and took him to Tunisia to photograph the aftermath of the North African conflict for agency “Point de Vue” and was reported by “LIFE Magazine”. Recruited by “France Dimanche”, Rizzo was sent to the first Cannes Film Festival, where he captured intimate photographs of stars, models, and participants at private parties using his skill and charm. Intrigue for his new subjects brought him to New York where he photographed Hollywood legends. A twenty-year career at “Paris Match” established him as a top fashion and celebrity photographer with subjects including Gene Kelly, Bridget Bardot, Fred Astaire, Audrey Hepburn, Pablo Picasso, and Salvador Dalí. He was the last person to photograph Marilyn Monroe just two weeks before her death. Rizzo also established himself as a furniture designer in the 1960’s. He furnished the homes of many of his famed subjects with his sought after modern designs. His work is exhibited and collected internationally and is in notable collections like the Metropolitan Museum of Art. He opened his gallery in Paris in 2010 with the help of his wife and son.
