Item Description
Lovely French 18th C romantic oil on canvas in unique oval frame. There are two of these and each is priced separately and depicts a different subject. The scene in this painting is of an attractive young couple in a romantic woodland environment. He is lifting her chivalrously in his arms to carry her across a cravasse. They are dressed in simple white country clothing, but appear to be of a more noble class. The canvas is crackled and could use some restoration. The frame is original hand made gilded gesso. This and its counterpart hang beautifully as a pair. Please consider buying both.
