Item Description
In viewing this exceptional art deco decorative bowl, one is in danger of exhausting one's vocabulary of superlatives in describing the beauty of it.
The bowl is 3 inches tall and 15.25 inches in diameter and concentric circles of alternating white and black bands are created with painstakingly painted tiny dots. The artist decided to apply the principles of the "Pointillism" technique in a completely new and distinctly early modern way. The design has a naive, almst op art effect but about 30 years before the movement was established. It is truly a stunning bowl, created circa 1930.
The bowl is painted terra cotta and there is a chip underneath the base, otherwise, it is in very good condition. It is unsigned and Swiss in origin.
