Large, impressive work by Austrian-born artist Anton Weiss. After WWII, Weiss spent 3 years of his childhood in a Russian prison camp in Yugoslavia after the German withdrawal. He immigrated to the US in 1951 with his family who settled in Tennessee. He left to study art at the Art Students League in NYC and in 1959 left there to study with Hans Hofman-the master of abstract expressionism.

Weiss' highly collectable works use many media including metals- particularly steel and copper. Thus the custom, beautifully patinaed copper framing housing this work. It is a piece of great power and movement and is signed and dated in the lower right corner.
