Sante Fe Railroad Poster by Hernando Villa. A witty bold graphic, rare to find in any condition. Some foxing to edge, otherwise a clean and vibrant edition of a popular image when you can find it.
Hernando Gonzallo Villa (1881-1952) was a commercial artist and painter, best known for his work for the Santa Fe Railroad. His work for the company spanned forty years, extending to designing the Santa Fe Chief emblem. Equally facile with oil, watercolor, pastel, and charcoal, he produced scenes of the Old West, Indians, missions, and the Mexican vaqueros. He was shown in the Art Along The Hyphen show at the Autry as part of the the citywide Pacific Standard Time Art event of 2011.
