Item ID: 379832
Item Description
A collection of twelve etchings, 18th century etchigs produced by Pierre Mariiette in 1725 for the renowned French furniture & decorative arts designer, Andre Charles Boulle.
According to the title page, the purpose of the etchings were to introduce the newest furniture, bronze object and marquetry. They were like the "Elle Decor" & "House Beautiful" of the 18th century and were a way of communicating the architecture & Interiors de rigour.
The etchings were created by Boulle and are his most famous. They are exceptionally rare and in our research can be found today only in the collections of Museum libraries and are often cited as reference by auction houses and historical literature.
The etchings measure 15 x 9.8 inches. Some of the pages have wear and dark marks to edges, patina and some foxing; one page has a cut corner. The photos show the main image; one large photo illustrates a full page and some close ups. They would look great framed in simple black frames.
