These are the first generation of their type, and known so by their construction. They feature an alunimum base with a cast iron yoke that is splined into the base , up and around the entire chair with virtually no seaming of jointery. Unlike the copies they are made to last many generations. The fabric is not original and was replaced some time ago and has some worn edges but still solid and strong. Because of their quality, I believe them to have been made in Germany.
