Description

 USA 1913-1944

Framed size add 6"

Beautiful Political 'cartoon' in full and vibrant color. Perfect for your Democrate\ic friends.

Milwakee artist and political cartoonist - enlisted in the army in 1942, apparently died in the war. One of his last commissions was his illustrations to Tolstoy’s What Men Live By.

Text “Twas Popsie Cotten ‘tween you and me / who spread the word of Franklin D.” Probably an ironic comment on Ed ‘Cotton’ Smith, SC Democrat who fought FDR on every turn. His comment that anyone could live on 50¢ a day, reversed, became an FDR classic line.

The photograph shows Sen. Cotton Smith in his office.
