Santo Solid Wood Block Carving of Madonna came from the world renowned collection of Lourdes Parreno Dellota, Iloilo City Phillipines, Musuem Iloilo. This Santo carving of Madonna was aquired by Albert Joseph directly from Lourdes Dellota. Since 1960, every piece in Lourdes's collection recieved a number and letter code that will coresspound to a record and photo of each piece. This is one of the remaining treasures from The Dellota collection. On the left side of the carving a knot in the wood has come out over the years. This piece dates early to middle 1800's. Lourdes Dellota started collecting Santos in the Phillipines end 1950's, she is noted as being the first person to exhibit a collection of Santos from the Phillipines and her work brought Santos collecting forward into international art & antique aceptance. Her collections have exhibited and helped to start Musuem Iloilo. This piece is one of her favorites being a primitive solid wood block carving with gesso remnants.
Santos collectors, this is the real deal and we will back it up with paper work and a photo of the piece being purchased from Lourdes in her home.
