An altar Shrine, or butsudan. Once essential in every Chinese household, the shrine is a stunning, scaled version of typical regional architecture and a showcase for the skills of master cabinetmakers.this one, perfect in every detail, probably represents a temple. The sloped roof protects a columned facade (probably temple) and a double layer of exuberant floral and vegetal motifs. Remnants of prayer paper remain.
